I am deep in the process of swapping out my 2.9L engine in my 86 B2 and replacing it with a 4.0L from a 93 explorer. I have been reading the tech information and there if a reference to changing the engine mount on the pass side. I check the dimension of the 2.9L versus the 4.0L and the distance from the engine bracket mounting holes to the rear face of the block (where the bell housing attached) is the same for both engines. I am convinced that no engine mount adjustment is needed. Could someone verify this?

Also, I was thinking of replacing the engine mounts. However, they look difficult to remove since the attachment nut is burried behind the steering suspension. Any advise?

No adjustment needed. The 4.0 will drop right in.

If the 2.8 is swapped then there is a differance in the mounts, but not the 2.9...it had me looking until I reread the swap info for the 8th time or so and saw it said 2.8.
