So, I am putting a reman engine in my 03' 4.OL SOHC. Looking at the shop manual, it says that once the Knock Sensor (The one that is in the "V" of the engine that can be seen once the intake manifold is removed) must be replaced with a new one once it is removed. Can anyone verify this statement? Do any of you who are Ford Mechanics do this? A new one costs $36, so if I can avoid the extra cost that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

My shop manual doesn't say that. I'd reuse it.

Ok, so I just checked and mine does not say that either. I was looking at my Chilton manual which does say to replace the knock sensor. I guess the Chilton manual is helpful for its pictures only.

Thanks for the quick reply!
