Hello,

Who makes the best or most complete UNDERDRIVE pulley set/kit for our ohv 4.0l?

I've found a 2 pulley kit from March, I remember Orthodox but I don't see many kits for this engine, many are generic for Ford, Chevy and Dodge and still more are for the Ford 3.8l and 5.0l.

Just want to reduce the load on the engine to improve efficientcy.

Here are a few more companies:
BBK, Trick Flow, Auto Specialties, March, Orthodox, Jet, Hypertech

i have kind of checked for my 3.0, also. not much seems available anymore and less for a decent price

There used to be a ton of stuff for this. Kicked around the idea a few times but my concern was underdriving the water pump and alternator. Reduced flow from the water pump would be a concern and sometimes I need full power off my alternator. I learned that with my F-150, it has about zero electronics, but you hook a winch or plow pump or jump start equipment or something and it was struggling. I upgraded the alternator and added a 4 gauge welding cable link from the alt to the battery and it cured those issues. So I’d suspect I’d have to change the pulley on the alt if I ran an underdrive to keep from ending up with not enough juice again. Think they used to make complete sets to keep from problems like that but I’m not seeing them anymore

@lil_Blue_Ford,

Yes, often the crank and power steering pulleys are underdriven while the alternative is overdriven.

@superj,

I see quite a few options for the 3.0 Vulcan.

hmm, i had only found one site before that carried stuff for the 3.0. i guess my google-fu is not as good as it once was. since i have 7ish more hours till i get off work, i can look some more.

we don't have real work scheduled till the end of the month. :(

Any news on this? I have a 97 with a 4.0 cologne in it
