4.0l clutch swap. need help

so im planning on doing it

this is 2.9 replacement:

this is 4.0 clutch

my question is will the 4.0 clutch work even though the input shaft size is different? if not can someone point me in the right direction, any sort of help is appreciated

different? both links show a spline size of 1"

unless you are looking where it says "Disc Hub I.D./Input Shaft Size : 9-3/16"" I believe this is the measurement of the clutch pressure plate surface itself, notice how it is just slightly more than the diameter of the clutch disc?

I assure you that your truck does not have a transmission input shaft diameter of 9-3/16"....... a freightliner doesn't even have an input shaft diameter that big

yea i am. im still learning how to work on stuff and me and my dad just usually replace with original stuff but i finally got him to help me upgrade something so this is a bit out of the norm for both of us.

You do know that you need to correct 4.0 manual seperator/block plate when doing the 4.0 clutch swap, if you use the 2.9 plate it will locate the starter in the middle of the flywheel.

The two I have that we were talking about in your other thread will be worthless to you once you do the 4.0 clutch swap. I still highly recommend it. It's a night and day difference.
