Hey guys, has anyone in here heard of adjustable rockers for the 4? I have a lead on a set that are for sale (guy has a 410 cam and adjustable rockers) that he was going to build up, however, isn't doing the build but selling the parts. I wasn't aware of adjustable ones. the ad says he ordered them from Europe. any info will be great.

thanks

The preedecessor for the 4.0, a 2.8L engine, used in early rangers had adjustable rockers

Angie why would you want adjustable ones? The factory style runs for nearly the life of the engine. Can't get much better than that.

Hi Jim, after my rebuild with the 410 and longer push rods, i still that famous ford tick, I can live with it, however it is a bit annoying. Talked to the fellow who has these for sale and he was saying that the adjustable ones will be sold with the pushrods for the cups are similar to the 2.8 style. when I did the rebuild I redid the rocker rails by going through the JY and peeking at all the rails i could find to see if I could get rockers that had next to nothing in the way of wear. did ok with that, when I seen that he has this set up for sale I was interested in what he was doing.

have talked to him on the phone and he has done up about 10 or so 4.0's with this setup and from what I can gather this setup works great for him. the push rods and being adjustable actually adds .100 to the over all length, and what he does is uses springs from a 302. said this combination kicks ass. I will be getting them from him and he is game to give me a hand with the setup.

one thing I am needing to do is open the valve covers and retorque/check the rails for any play anyway so while I am in there anyway I will reconfigure the setup and see how she runs.

cheers
