4.0L & 2.9L ?????s

I have heard that these too blocks are identical on the outside? With just the insides bein different......what are the differences between the 2 blocks?!?!?!
 
i believe the 2.9 and 4.0 are based off of the same bloce, but im not sure if its true, and idk where i heard it from either.
 
Making the 2.9 into a 4.0 is a lot more like making a 302 into a 351.

Like the 351Windsor the deckheight was raised

On a 351Windsor the deckheight is raised by 1.2" Vs a 302.

On a 4.0 the deckheight is raised by 20mm (0.8")

The block oil pan rails are Wider on the 4.0 to clear the
crank counterweights.
yeah the 4.0 is "decended" from the 2.9, but it's a "child", not a "Brother"
