i swapped this 4.0 into my 90 ranger 2.9 kept the 5spd the 4.0 was a auto i cant get it to start to i wired a push bottom start. would that work to get it to start and how would i wire it

first of all, we need more info. is it getting spark, fuel, air? does it turn over and not fire? and how acurate was your wiring?

I'm not sure but it probably is part of the problem.
Are you sure you hooked up the clutch neutral safety switch at the clutch pedal, and are you sure the starter wire is making good contact on the starter ?
How about the starter relay on the fender well ? Every thing connected properly ?

I used the 4.0 auto ecu (for a bit) and my stock 5 speed. You may need to bypass the clutch switch ( I did, but I don't know if it is needed). You do however NEED to bypass the neutral safety switch in the auto tranny wiring harness.

On the clutch pedal this is a switch on the rod. Do a search to find what wires you need to cross. It is like the two pink wires IIRC.

just get the jumper out of the vehicle that had the auto in it. or go to a JY and get one from a vehicle there

^This. And for the NSS, look in the tech library for auto to manual swap and at the bottom it has the colors of the wiring listed.
