:icon_confused:i have a 92 ford ranger and it doen't matter if it hot or cold does this when it fills like it. the problem is it will crank but won't start cold hot been sitting all night just started or just started sat for a while it does this whenever it wants to. i can't hear the fuel pump when it does this but i checked the fuel relay seems to check out fine. but when i shot a little either in it it starts and the fuel pump starts working and is good to go. sometimes it does this a few times a day or it won't do it for a month or so. the previous owner had the same problem and never figured it out neither he was the original owner. and when i got the truck i put a different motor in itand so i know has to be electrical but i can't figure it out. any or all help will greatly appriciated.

If that doesn't turn out to be your problem, I had a similar issue. It was a faulty relay that got stuck sometimes and wouldn't energize, I just had to smack it against the fender a couple times and it'd start working again. I did that for 4 months until it finally melted down and I replaced it with the ECU relay from an F150.

thanks for the post but i already read it and it and i don't think it is it but my guestion is where is the fuel relay located on a 92 with a 4.0 i have looked in my haynes manual and owners manual and they are about useless when it comes to pin pointing stuff electrical

Relay

Should be in the power box under the hood on the wheel well. My eec had two capacitors burned and was shorting intermittently. I got them from radio shack 47uf 35volt and a soldering iron and saved about two hundred bucks. Not easy if you get the shakes alot. Only so many things can stop a car from starting. No fuel pressure easy to check with a fuel vac gauge. No vacuum or big leak broken hoses etc. Water in oil, head or gasket. No power to the plugs, coil or short. Some kind of position read error crank sensor etc. Sensors don't usually go bad from my experience. Compression too low easy to test with compression gauge.
