I am rebuilding my prerunner ranger from the ground up and would like to get rid of the manual transmission behind my 4.0 and go automatic, hopefully a C4 unit that I can have built by TCI or Hughes to take a beating that I plan on giving it.

My question is has anyone ordered a trans from an aftermarket company if so which one did you order? A small bellhousing style from a 302 or?

Thanks...

There was a guy on RPS that put a Chevy T400 behind his 4.0.

any c-4 will do, but you'll still have to have a bellhousing / flexplate / torque converter from a 84 BroncoII with the 2.8 / C5 to get it to bolt up.

Yep, what Bird said, sounds about right. I know you need all the stuff from a 2.8 that had the C_ tranny (apparently a C5).

Theres a guy on dezertrangers.com selling a c4 to 4.0 bellhousing and flewplate. GO to classified, parts and search for it.

I have a c4 to ranger trans case adapter from james duff. It's a tranny tail shaft and tailstock that I bought a couple years ago and never used. Pm if interested.
