what kinda mileage have your 4.0 v6s lasted. mine has 191,598 miles and counting. i beat the hell out of since i bought the truck at 70,000 miles. it doesnt burn any oil, and shows no sign of quittin. full oil pressiure and everything. just wanna hear other peoples stories.

Mine has 170, miles (275,kms) I have put 15, miles on it and so far so good!

My chassis has 232k on it. Miliage....Whats that? Im on my second engine swapped out 2k ago. The first engine we had since about 12k on it. We over loaded it many a hundreds of times with firewood and other things. It wouldnt die. But it did. I was racing another Ranger and it finally had enough. Puffed blue smoke and it was done with. Great engines and great trucks!

one time i was wheelin on a pretty hairy trail (for a truck that had stock size 235s- liberator ats) in 4low crawlin over rocks and fallen trees, and then bouncin it off the rev limiter in 2nd gear through water holes.

I have one with 118k on it. The guy i bought it off of blew the head gasket going down the highway before it had reached 100k, and had to have new heads put on cause the valves seized or something. Since ive had it i noticed it tears through some oil, but i think its leaky valve covers (the whole engine is just coated in oil).

Only 27,000 on mine so far. I promised myself not to slack off on oil changes with this truck. So that plus I baby the hell out of it (rarely take it past 2500 rpm) and I hope that it will live up to it's reputation for being rock solid.

??? id hate to actually ever have to drive behind u lol, a sohc 4.0 is happy to rev and revving wont hurt it

i bought my ranger 18 months ago with 193000 on it for $400.00. it now has 207000 on it and i beat the bag out of it all the time. i hope to get at least 250000 out of it

LOL I can see why you'd say that, but I'm not one of those guys that holds up traffic. I'm good at balancing not being pokey but keeping the revs down at the same time. I still blend in in traffic. But I do get a kick out of it when someone cuts around into the next lane and blows by me - only for me to pass them a few seconds later. I never said I don't drive fast, I just don't accelerate that fast. I drive as fast or faster than anyone else, I just take a couple ticks longer getting up to speed. Timing lights and coasting are a big part of my driving also, so I don't have to spend as much time accelerating as the average Michigan A-hole that thinks their foot absolutely has to be jammed either on the gas pedal or the brake pedal at all times.

I'd like to think I know what I'm doing, since I never get any dirty looks or :thefinger: or horns blasted at me - and yet my last 2 fill ups, I have got 19.3 and 20mpg - all stop and go city driving with an auto trans!:icon_hornsup:

I might have went a little off-topic there, but it comes back to the point that my driving style is going to extend the life of my motor.

my 4.0 must be bullet proof. i have literally tortured my motor, and it always says thank you sir may i have another.

I lost the motor in my 2000 at 68K, think they had some problems with head gaskets. Guy at work lost his motor at 72K, again a 2000 with head gasket. The 2005 runs good, pulls good, good mileage.

I have 1993 explorer 2door sport with 292,000 miles on the original motor.Only a water pump so far.Still drive in heavy traffic with the ac on and it runs right around the m on the normal gauge.

my wife is from detroit mi. when we go up there to visit her family i alway say i need to drive like an asshole so i dont get hit by one. im mostly talkin bout driving down gratiot. one time when i had my 93 s10 blazer, i had the serpentine belt break at the corner of gratiot and 8 mile rd. it was at 10 pm, so i had to park it in front of the doors of the 24 hr gas station. i pulled out my head unit and subs just in case

i had a 92 exploder sport with the 4.0 bought it with 140K on it.....only made it to 146K then it finally gave up
