4.0 tear down after miles of boost

Lean much?
I bet your AF's would scare you. What have you done in regards to spark/fuel or have you just been beating on it with stock stuff?

I recommend you run atleast a 10% antifreeze mix for your coolant, else you'll rust up too much stuff.

beating on it hard with the stock equiptment. Ill find out what the AFRs are soon enough then go from there. For now Ill keep the boosty down since it runs fine with the gate opening at 5. I was putting strait water in because it had been losing water for months and coolant at 10$s a jug is robbery. So a little rust I could care less. Its a 300$ yard motor and theres plenty more of them If i need another one. However its winter time and the Headgaskets will be fixed now so a 50/50 mix is in order.

I was waiting for it to blow up but it just didnt lol. I picked up all the parts i need to get ti back together hopefully sunday i may be going to portland tomorrow

i didnt even notice you were in washington. we ought to arrange a meet sometime...id like to see this beast in person :3gears:

maybe next summer i head down to westport alot during the summer for surfing and charter fishing

lots of tedious scrubbing buit its getting there ishould be able to start slapping it back together tommorrow

and then i can get started on building my Cougar the "upgraded turbo kit"

Grapeview is near Allyn, Belfair or Bremerton depending how well you know the area. I believe.

well since it was leaning out and Im not ready to blow any more cash right now on the exploder i decided to at least throw these in and see how it runs. these were just laying around.

and of course no more guttsy high pressure pulls. Im just going to keep the boost down to 5psi

the heads are on i just have to bolt the rest back together

there just 21#ers so ill see how it runs i guess. they came with the 01 4.6L i bought recently

better than stock i guess...still woefully under-fed, even for 5 PSI.

according to some quick math numbers, you'd need close to 26lb/hr (whatever is closest) injectors for 5 PSI boost. closer to 40lb-ers for 15psi.

ramping up the fuel pressure would probably get those 21lb injectors pretty close for your 5 psi.

it never knocks or detonates when the boost is turned dow nto 5 psi it actually runs quiet powerful with the 19#ers. As soon as i get a wideban it will be the only way to know my AFRs however until then ill just keep the boost down. Im trying to keep money in my pocket and i have another turbo project that is getting upgraded so what expence i ca nafford im putting it towards "project wind talker"

19#rs can support enough fuel flow for about 300hp actually if i could tune it thru the ecu the oem injectors would actually be fine for 5psi as wit h5psi the ohv isnt going to be over 300hp

actually omars 4.0 ohv under 14psi wit ha mild cam made 330rwhp and almost 400ftlbs of torque thru a C$ or C6 i cant remeber
