will a 4.0 that was originally hooked to and auto connect to my 3.0 manual bellhousing?

2.8, 2.9 and 4.0L all share the same bellhousing pattern. The 3.0L is an entirely different animal.
well aint that a razor blade in the candy, do I have to get a manual 4.0 bellhousing from a third party vehicle? or do I have to to a tranny swap?
The bell housings are integrated. Need a 2.8/2.9/4.0 trans.
