So, forums have gotten me this far-fresh 4.0 is in & bolted to the standard transmission from the B2. Started the harness swap ans yes, it's a bit overwhelming. Anyone have a guide to what goes where? Big white plug from Explorer harness is to be cut off and partially spliced into the existing b2 harness at the firewall, just not sure what. Everyone says to use the B2 headlight harness which is understandable considering the difference in the headlights. However, the B2 has more wires the the same section of the Explorer, so......any assistance is much appreciated....I'm not at a standstill yet as I've got to get the fuel system ready to go, which I think I have figured out other then, you guessed it, the wiring...

Have you seen this thread?

I was searching for how to disconnect the firewall harness connector and ran across an article that does exactly what you're trying to do, including detailed descriptions of his wiring changes and lots of pics.
Think I can find it again on this phone?....

Here's the diagrams

Here is the 1992 diagram from above with some connection points I marked that I think are important. Places you need to hook the 1985 harness into the 1992 for important power points. I marked the speed sensor with a question mark, not sure what you need to do there. We can use this diagram to discuss these different circuits, and if someone has another important spot, by all means chime in.

Fantastic & much appreciated, this should get me pointed in the right direction. Not sure what you have in mind with the last diagram, but I'll hit you up when I'm there. I do need info on what wires from the BWP (big white plug) goto what wires on the B2 firewall. I was told there's only 12 or so. I cant find the image of the plug from the 92' explorer telling what pins are what and an image of the B2 wires showing what goes where to the BWP. I see what you have circled in red, but am I missing something. I'll look this over in more detail tonight when I'm home. I wish somebody was closer to me, I'd pay to get it done as time is an issue for me.

I was looking at places in the 92 diagram I thought were important places to tie into the 85 wiring. I am assuming the ignition switch with be 1985.

#1 is main power from the 1985 ignition switch to the 1992 ignition coils.

#2 is main power from the 1985 ignition switch to the 1992 main computer relay/power.

#3 is a tie in point from the charge light in the 1985 dash, to the 1992 alternator/charging system.

#4 is the main power feed to the 1985 ignition switch from the 1992 underhood fuse box.

#5 is the main power feed from the 1985 starter relay to the 1992 underhood fuse box.

#6 is a power feed for the heated oxygen sensor. Looks like in 1992 it may have come from the underdash 1992 fuse box. You will have to pick this up somewhere else in your conversion.

#7 Not sure what you are going to do for a speed sensor if you are not using the explorer drivetrain.
