i know this is probably a frequent asked question but...

im looking at putting a new 4.0 in my ranger

the explorer 4.0 specs at 254 tq and 210 hp

vs 238 \ 207 for the ranger, is there really any difference there?

if i pull the motor out of an explorer is it going to be any different wthout the computer?
downfalls to an exploder motor over the ranger?

thanks

That is a lot of work for a few pounds of torque and even less horsepower. You can achieve that with an SCT X3 tuner and a few e-mails worth of datalogging. Check in with Fred from rogueperformance.com he'll write you a base tune (to include what YOU want in your tune and to take into account any intake/exhaust upgrades) then you install livelink on your laptop, plug in the USB cable to connect your tuner to your laptop and select all the parameters needed to record (datalog). Run the vehicle and save the file. E-mail said files to Fred and he'll adjust accordingly. Way better than a generic "one tune fits all" attempt other manufacturers do.

im not gonna swap the motor cus i want more power, it already has a the sohc, but it has the infamous chain rattle.
the motor has 130k on it, instead of spending 1300 bucks to get a motor fixed that most likely will have more is issues in the futu is not what i want to do.
id rather spend around the same amount of money to get a motor wit less miles. im just interested if i should be looking for the explorer motor for the extra torque, seeing as they should be the same cost

I am trying to figure out this same info...Likw what year expo motors or I have even heard of mustang motor swaps. Anybody have any more info?
