Got a deal on a 2001 Ranger after it rolled over. See a lot of swaps on the ohv 4.0 but not on the sohc. I would like to swap out motor, transmission, transfercase to start. Then maybe the 8.8 and the D35. Any thoughts would be great. Will the sohc even fit in there? Clear the hvac plenum?

I will say that if you had got it, the front has the IFS LP D35.

Help me out here. What did you mean by your comment. It does have th d35 with 410 gears. I wanna put it under my B2. LP ? Im new in here. Dont always know what abreviations mean. SAS? Straght axle swap?

IFS = Independant front suspension

LP = Low Pinion

The front of 98+ rangers have IFS LP D35's. Putting on under a pre 98 wouldnt be something I wpould do or that I think can be done, that stuff is welded to the frames. If you want a 99% bolt in upgrade front, put a TTB (twin traction beam) D35 from a pre 98 RBV. Tech librbary has alot more info on all this. High pinion (HP) is stronger then a LP of the same such as a D35. Right now I think you would have th TTB D28 and those arent worth upgrading.

Thanks. Just found info on year of change to IFS. I can still sell or swap it for a pre 98. D28 has to go. Gonna stuff that 4.0 sohc in there and im afraid it will twist it off. How about the 8.8? I know I have to move the mounts. Thanks again. RBV?

If u get an 8.8 from a ranger ur good i think the pinion flange sizes are different but not sure.
