4.0 SOHC removal


Can you guys think of any reason to mess with these dowels if my engine stand mounts fit right over them? If I don't have to attempt to get them out that's a bonus.

Yeah I can see that Shran, that makes sense.
 
I’ve done it in front of my buddy’s garage in town, pulled the motor, head gaskets and up on a junkyard motor, had it in and getting gas down the street in 6 hours. My Choptop. I’ve had practice and I was already set up plus that was prior to having AC in it and generally being simpler than yours including being a manual transmission so no torque converter nuts to mess with. I don’t move that fast these days though, the last go-round took me a few days to complete and swapping the engine in my buddy’s Ranger even longer. Don’t get too hung up on trying to hurry.
