FYI: The 2.9, 4.0l OHV use the EXACT same bolt pattern. The SOHC is very close to these, 7 of the 8 bolt holes line up.

The clutch spline and disc size is the same between the SOHC and OHV. The flywheel on the early OHV is 6 bolt, The SOHC (and later OHV) uses an 8 bolt flywheel. The same disc and pressure plate can be used on either flywheel.
The older OHV used a weaker M5OD as does the 2.9l. The 2.9l M5OD has a different 1st gear ratio.
The later M5OD-R1HD is stronger, but I dont know how much stronger. Maybe someone else can let you know.

according to the dimensions im finding the sohc clutch is slightly bigger 10 1/8" vs 10" on ohv idk if thats to make a huge difference.
