4.0 SOHC coolant loss

1. Some pairs of vice grips have an Allen or hex on the adjustment knob that allows you to tighten it after it’s closed.

2. If you need to drill it out used a left handed drill bit. some times when you start drilling they will come loose and unscrew.

A trick my brother showed me is to use an internal Torx bit after drilling the hole. Just measure the Torx bit and use a drill smaller than the Torx bit. Drive the Torx tool in the hole and turn the broken piece out. It work better than an extractor.

"Easy" is relative. You should remove the intake manifold. It's not that much extra work but you will need a 1/4" drive torx bit (T-30, I think) and a 6" extension to get to the bolts. You can probably use a long shanked 3/8" drive too. A T-30 in 1/4" drive may be harder to find.

I think it is t25, a 3/8” socket doesn’t fit through the holes to get at the bolts so 1/4” is best.

You're probably right about the T-25. My kit is missing it and the T-30. I couldn't remember which one I needed. I actually took a chance and used a size smaller but didn't want to encourage that practice. LOL

They weren't that tight so I was successful removing and reinstalling them to the proper spec even with the wrong size.

They make a Torx set with long ends, (about 2-3 inches) that I think would work in 3/8" drive.

If I ever do another one I will remove intake. Now I have to figure out why the heater doesn't work

Feel the heater hoses at firewall in engine bay, if both are hot after warm up then Blend Door in cab is the "no heat" problem

They are. The car was in an accident before I got it and I imagine that's why it doesn't work. Is it electrically operated or vacuum?

I have a shop manual, I can look it up when I get home from work, send you some pictures.

Wouldn't be surprised if someone else types out a better description before then.
