4.0 retrofitted with a distributor?

I used more match books setting points on the side of the road than I did lighting cigarettes in my 67 c10. That 230 straight six ATE ignition parts for some reason... points, condensers, and coils.

The three tractors I have with distributors have Delco distributors. The fourth has a Fairbanks-Morse magneto. Good wiring is key.

I was 16... my idea of good wiring back then was twisting wires together and wrapping them in masking tape. If I was out of tape I'd pick a chunk of that black goo they used as seam sealer off the firewall and stick that around the wire like silly putty

I remember being 17 once and trying to use a cigarette lighter to soder a wire.

Also used one once to try and melt a alternator belt back togther.

Neither worked.

When I think of the crap I did when I was first driving and learning to fix my own stuff I really cannot believe I survived...

Yes, the internet is a blessing and a curse :)

We used to TRY everything, and like Thomas Edison, we were successful in finding 100 ways it didn't work, but we learned over time what did work, or at least what got us home, lol

I oiled the brakes on my first car, they were squeaking................................

I tried using WD40 as starting fluid once.

I tried using WD40 as starting fluid once.

I almost burnt down my Ranger with WD-40 once.

I was drilling a hole in a freeze plug to yank it and I shot some WD-40 and it flashed.

because you dont want to use actual starting fluid on my grenade.

you have to know what you are doing to use ether on a 6.2...or 6.9.

if it is an ether loving bastard....then a retard already ruined it before you got to it....

Kinda what i figured.

The 6.2 wasnt mine. It was a close friend of mines. It got below 35 or so forget it.

The 6.9 i had was in an 85 ford flatbed 1 ton i kept for about 2 months. It was a pretty clean truck but riddled with mechanical issues. It was good down to about 20*

I'm still trying to schedule a day to go look the truck over. Apparently when two people have a floating work schedule, it's difficult to get the same days off.

So the truck I was going to buy fell through. I found another that was wrecked, for free. A 93 4.0, 4x4. Tryin to get it this week, but work is getting in the way. Apparently it's fire season in Commiefornia.
Rangers are a hot commodity in Nevada. They're hard to find for cheap. Since I still work in California, I'm trying to find a cheap ones and haul them back home.

Well I know the thread is old, but I've finally acquired a 4.0 with an aluminum intake. Its a 93 Ranger that pot farmers rolled in their driveway. They hit a rock hard enough to push the driver's side radius arm through the bracket, bend the I beam and the frame. I got it for free because they sold the property. Engine still has oil so they didn't crack the pan, but no coolant. Hopefully that just leaked out while sitting for the last 2 years.

I'm still searching for a suitable 80's Ranger or Bronco II. I've got my eye on one that's been sitting for a few years. Just need to find who owns it and make an offer.
