4.0 rebuild help

I'm refreshing my 94 4.0 and I've come across a part that needs replacing but I can't locate a new one anywhere. It's the 'engine damper' it's a shock absorber looking piece that's connected to an arm off the engine mount bracket on the block and the other end mounts to the frame right behind the steering box. It looks like its job is to prevent the motor from twisting from the massive amount of torque and HP this beast makes!?

Anyone know where I can get one, or some kind of substitute, or is this part really necessary?

It's a vibration damper. You could try your local junk yard, maybe you'll find a good one for cheap. Or you could try Team Ford Parts. I found this place has a good look up system for Ford vehicles.

I don't know how many sites, including dealers like the one you gave me, that I've checked and they all listed the parts as obsolete! This site lists it as in stock. I'll shoot them an email just to be sure.

Does anyone know if this is really necessary? I've never seen one on any other vehicle.

I took mine off maybe it would be smoother with it though but it doesn't fall apart or anything.

You most likely wont even know its gone, Its like the secondary shocks ford put on the rear of mustang gt's.
