I was getting ready to tear down a 4.0 with a 95tm block and 93tm heads. I read today that you can't interchange a 95tm with a 90tm. I have a 94 ranger xlt 4wd w/manual trans. I have not had it on the lift to check my block numbers. The spare motor was supposed to have come out of a 94 as well. I read in one of the sections here that the 90tm was used in 90-94 and 95tm 95-97. Other than the extra bolt holes on each side of the block what else is different and if I rebuild will it work in my truck?

The important thing that I know of is making sure you have the heads, pistons, and tune all matched together.

Ron that article is the one I read. It says none can be interchanged. I might be reading into it to much. Is that referring to swapping internals or swapping complete assemblies.
