I have a 2004 Ranger with a 4.0 enigne and it has a rattle that does not sound like it is internal. When the RPMs go up it does not. It is loud and ive been told it could be a timing chain or a engine warm up plenum?? It does have high miles but they are mainly high way. The motor still runs great but has an awful rattel...HELP!!

I would say timing chain. If it's a sohc motor. It's a coming problem and needs to be replace ASAP I would not drive it. The chain will not change with the rpm. These engines are coming for timing guides falling apart and what happens is they break up in little pieces and will clog your oil pickup. It's also a hard as hell job that requires special tools and removal of the engine.
