Hi im just new here.. need help for engine replacement for my 2006 fx4 4.0 l SOHC 4x4 manual transmission.. hard to find same engine here in Calgary,Alberta.. any recommendations?? I seized the engine with 326000km on it

The easiest and cheapest thing to do is use the same model of engine. The 3.0l will fit. It's a common Ranger engine. But, you will need a complete donor vehicle to do it. You'll need the engine, transmission, wiring harness and ecu at a minimum.

Only way to go is to rebuild or replace the 4.0l SOHC engine in a 2006 Ranger

After 2003 Rangers got Digital system making it much harder to swap engine sizes/computers

Try: https://www.car-part.com/

If you don't see much near Calgary using 2006
Go back and change Year to 2009 then search again, also try 2011

Any 2005 to 2011 4.0l SOHC will work, might need to swap a sensor to match connector, but nothing major

Manual or automatic doesn't matter

Couldnt he go clear back to 98 or 99 on explorers? Or 01 for rangers?

The 1998-2004 4.0l SOHC engines could have the old tensioners and timing chain parts, especially if they were lower miles
So best to stick with 2005-2011 4.0l SOHC for plug and play

If replacement engine is going to be worked on, then just rebuild current engine
