Anything and everything that needs vacuum can be hooked up there. Fuel pressure regulator, power brakes, etc.

Just below and to the front should be the PVC connection vacuum connection.

what does the downward right one go to? i got it blocked off with a redneck fix and i'm wondering where it exactly leads.

if it needs constant vacuum and will reach then it probably attaches there.

One goes to the transmission if it's automatic (vacuum diaphram on the A4LDs) one goes to the brake booster, one goes to the little plastic "pill" shaped thing on the passenger side engine compartment, One goes to the PCV, etc...I do have one capped off on mine.

theres i think five different places to hook things in could someone post a pic of their setup?

Not all of the connections are used all of the time I have a few capped off. If you have a base model truck with a manual trans you could have quite a few that are blocked off and don't go anywhere.
