I looked at the 07 models and I've noticed that the 4.0 in the Rangers claim 207hp and 238 torque at around 5200 rpm. The 4.0 in the Sport Trac claims 210hp and 254 torque also at around 5200rpm. So is this just typical roster padding like basketball and football coaches do, or is there really a difference? If so what are the differences? I believe they both have 3 timing chains, so the internals have to be at least basically similar?

The Explorer engines had a slightly different intake and slightly different tuning.

OE's always have slightly different engine ratings depending on model. One that sticks in my mind off hand was the 87-96 300 I6. 145hp/260ft lbs....but you got 145hp/265ftlbs if it was mounted to an auto trans lol
