4.0 flooding

somtimes my truck is flooded it will just crank over until I push the accelerator to the floor, then it will fire up. any ideas on how to fix this?? thanks for any help. p.s. it always does this while the engine is cool.

Flooding indicates too much fuel.. Your description indicates not enough fuel. Fuel starvation in a cold computerized engine USUALLY is caused by the temp sender that sends the engine temp to the computer.
There should be two temp senders near the thermostat. One of them sends the temp to the gauge the other one sends the temp to the computer. If THAT one fails and sends the wrong temp the computer thinks the engine is already hot and changes the mixture and the timing for a hot engine. It is hard to start a cold engine under these circumstances.
