im in the middle of my 3.0 to 4.0 swap and i was wondering if i could just plug in the 3 big plugs that go into the body by the brake booster and use the 96 exploder harness on my 95 ranger, i have the whole harness from the ex from the 3 big conn to the comp harness, its my dd and any info would be great:headbang:

Explorer wiring is different. If it was a Ranger 4.0 harness, then it probably would be plug and play. You need the wiring diagrams for both vehicles so you can see where you need to splice.

can i do all the splicing at the bolt together connector on the driverside of the motor?

It would be easier to splice where the motor harness meets the drivers side fender harness.

No the few plug on the drivers side fender that mate the headlight harness to the motor harness.

hey thanxs for the help, think my eyeballs r going to fall out from lookn at these wires but i know it will be worth it, have to get some pics taken before and after

goin crazy now...you wouldnt happen to have a list of the wires i need to find in this mess would ya

wish i knew how to geta pic in here, the plug im talkn about has the same wires as my ranger in the same pin locations but just a few more than my ranger, like five i think

i was lookn at ur pics of ur swap and your wiring is totaly differnt from mine....still cant figure out how to get pics in here

save yourself the headache and just get yourself a ranger 4.0 engine harness, it's a plug and play swap, no splicing required

have harness for 4.0....can i just plug it into my rangers plug that is on the drvrs side of the motor, its olike a 25 pin with a bolt that holds it together, i did a side by side with the plugs and the exploder one has the same wires as mine but a few more.
