4.0 computer questions

so i just got done rebuilding my 95 4.0. it originally had egr. when i put the new motor in i got rid of the egr system . i was planning on going a different route as to why i gave way with egr its got a set of pace setter headers, comp camp 410 camshaft, delta cam rocker assembly, smith brother push rods and it currently has the 93 upper alum intake. i plugged it in at work the other day for curiosity. its throwing 2 codes obviously for egr solenoid and dpfe sensor. i noticed that my catalyst and heated o2 sensor monitors are NOT ready. i believe this is caused by the egr system not being ready i also noticed my fuel mileage is in the gutter at 12mpg.. . i picked up a computer out of a 00 ohv ranger that was NON egr. figured this would solve my problem and the darn truck wont even start with that computer. so i went down and spoke to ford and they said that they could re flash my computer for 80 dollars. my question is if they re flash the computer, iam guessing they would get rid of egr. Would my other monitors work fine? will the catalyst and heated o2 sensors be ready? if those monitors become ready . would my fuel mileage should increase up to 16-19 where it was before..

when they flash your computer they will eliminate the EGR system and the rest of the monitors will be fine.

i stoped by ford today and the tech said that he needs a vin number of a vehicle that doesnt have egr but has all the other features my truck has so he can flash the computer.. the computer that i have out of a 00 ohv 4.0 5spd will not start my truck. but if i took the vin code from that vehicle and gave the tech that vin would he be able to reprogram my computer and get my truck to run?

he also said that the reason for the poor fuel mileage is the fact that the computer is running in limp mode and doesnt have all its power.

well guys i really need some help. i brought my truck into ford today the tech took tried to reflash my pcm and well long story short... it got erased and he can't reprogram it the idis program isnt working for him... any one have any suggestions? do i send it some where or does any one have some computers for sale...

I was going to say dont let them screw it up, but too late. Find yourself another if you can. Take it to a salvage yard and see if they have one with matching numbers. Once you get that straightened out, PM me and I'll help you bypass the egr without throwing codes. You can have the system removed, but you need the DPFE installed.
