what would be more cost efficient, swapping in a 4.0 clutch into an 88 2.9 4x4 or getting a high performance 2.9 clutch and how much would the 4.0 clutch swap cost minus the clutch kit so(starter, flywheel, wires ect).

I put a Centreforce II clutch on my 2.9 as it was not much more $$ than a stock replacement. So far so good.

While I liked the CenterforceII clutch I had on my 2.9 it is no comparison
to a 4.0 clutch.

I've run both on a 2.9.

Given a choice I'll take the 4.0 clutch.

Of course since them I've swapped a 4.0 into my truck in front of
the 4.0 flywheel and clutch...
