i want to stick a cam in my truck. and not sure if i want comp cams 410 or 422.. i was told about deta cams i not sure if i can trust a 83 dollar cam tho reviews on them would be great.. i was also told ill need longer push rods which i dont see how that makes sense..and also is it true if i get a cam i wont run correct if i dont also add a bigger TB and a MAF and a chip? any feedback would be great

by the way 94 4.0 5spd

Pushrod length are dependant on rocker ratio and lifter height, so if the lobes on the cam don't have as much lift as your OEM cam then yeah, you will need longer rods, likewise if you have more lobe lift, you will need shorter rods...As far as the cam you listed, I can't give you any info on it, as I have not heard of it...

The pushrod length is dependent upon if the lobes are ground on reduced base circles. You can only add soo much more material to the lobes before they are taller than the bearing circles and wont slide into the motor. You counter this by grinding it on smaller base circles and take the slack up with a longer pushrod.

BUT! To answer your question. Both cams mentioned lose some badly needed bottom end. With the lift and size tires you have gears will be a much better modification.
The 410 is a little better mid range cam than stock. With stock sized tires it does real good in our engines. The 422 is a great cam if you plan on keeping the rpm way high.
Your ride is suffering from loss of rpm.. If you can improve on that then you may be happy with it as is. If not happy then maybe the 410 would help.
