I had a question about the slave cylinder and such.I was wondering if everything from a 2.9 5 spd tranny would work on a 4.0 tranny? i have a 4.0 5 spd tranny but something inside the belllhousing broke and was just wondering if i could use parts from a 2.9 5 spd that i have to fix the 4.0 trans.

Thanks

Depends upon the model year and transmission type on both vehicles.

Frankly, I'd NEVER install a used ANYTHING inside the bellhousing. Replace all the clutch parts (including the flywheel) and consider the rear main. Unless you like pulling these.

the 2.9 5 spd came out of my old 87 ranger 4x4, everything worked perfectly in it, and it also had a new clutch put in it before i bought the truck thats why i was wondering if i could interchange the parts.the 4.0 tranny is a 93 5spd 4x4

The Slave on an '85-87 is "Captive" between the front bearing retainer of the trans and the bolted on bellhousing

It is completely different in the way it mounts and the way the line connects to it from the later ('88-92) slave cylinder.
