3L engine, 4L intake????

would a 4L intake out of a 93 explorer fit on my 3L engine? would that give me an performance if it did or?

Nope, won't fit at all. You'd be better off trying to mill your own out of a solid block of aluminum. Now what will work, is an 02' n up composite intake. This has a removable throttle body that you can replace with a bigger ford escape TB. The composite intake alone is good for a few horses, and the escape TB will most likely make it more touchy, peppy....

Yep. Should bolt right on. I also heard of using a late model taurus TB also.

the escape TB requires a small JB weld-related mod to fill in a hole created by mating the tb and plenum...but other than thats its bolt on. i believe the new gen intake will also require you to drill the holes out for your old intake bolts/studs to fit (its plastic, so dont sweat it).

hm bigger throttle body from a taurus? Is the 4.0's still bigger? cause it seems to be an easy way to get a lil more air in there if its bigger than the 4.0's

the stock 3.0 TB is 50mm. the escape TB is 60mm (this could easily support over 200HP n/a.). not sure what size the OHV 4.0 TB is..i think the SOHC is 65mm..but i dont know for sure.

the 3.0 used in the taurus is the same as the one used in the ranger...so any TB they got...we got.

I thought maybe the later SOHC 3.0 tauru's or is it DOHC?

The later Taurus' have a Duratec 3.0. Not sure on the bolt patterns or if they match up though.

the duratech 3.0 used in the later taurus' is the same motor as the escape that your supposed to use the 60mm tb from. but for some reason i always hear "escape" when someone mentions this mod...not "taurus"...so i assume something must be different.

Other than the Escape engines cost about $1000 more than the same Taurus engine I doubt there is a difference. Both will swap into a Contour with the 2.5 Duratech the same.

ok cool so ya im goin to go to a scrap yard this summer and grab those 2 things and put them on my truck any idea how much HP/TQ i will get from this if any???
