390 Big block...

Duster, one think I knew was going to be a problem was the oil pan. Not even sure the normal dual sump pan for a Mustang works. Did find this one that fits in up to a '93' Mustang when swaping in a FE. Kind of expensive. Headers is going to be the next really big problem.

Teddy, ya made me look. That pan at least includes the pick-up and gasket but the bad new is that it's for the 429/460.
Dave

There was only one FE application with a rear sump pan, that was the 74-76 4x4 pan. I believe Milodon also makes a rear sump FE pan.

a swing and a miss with this guy... he's a lost cause but it looks like everyone else gets it

Nope, you were the only one who "missed" my point. :icon_rofl: Most of us don't buy all our parts from a catalog like you do. Little things like money and life kind of get in the way of doing what you do in our case. :icon_idea:

I think what he was trying to say is you could save money by shopping around instead of buying it new from Jegs or Summit. All of your price quotes were from them.Baddad knows his Ford part numbers and what you can interchange to come up with the most bang for your buck.He has never gave me bad information on anything part wise I have asked him.
I put together the 302 in my 85 with his help and a great deal on some stuff I needed to make it work.On my 81 F-100 that someone else swapped a 302 out for a 351W he helped me find the mistakes that they made when they did the swap and correct them.

Building a ford engine is kinda like cooking good chili..........You find the right ingredients and you have a winner, you just have to know where to shop and what to buy.I happen to think the guy is a pretty good cook.

Just my opinion.......it and 2 bucks will buy you a drink and maybe a bag of chips(depends on where you shop....lol).
Thank you. :pray::pray::icon_cheers:

Truth be know, there are several you that "Really Do Know Your Stuff". When it comings to wiring, I've learned to walk away and hopefully learn.
Still want one of them intake plates? Down to three now.

I think I'll pass. They are cool, but I guess it's something I don't need. :(
If it had the old-school v8 script I'd be all over it! As soon as you sell the last one, you know I'll change my mind!!!

blackwidow67;615574 i am no ford guy by any means [/QUOTE said:
You there sir are a lier:icon_rofl:. Your are building a Ranger that is built by FORD!!!:headbang:
This fact makes you some what a FORD supporter:headbang:. If you were building a
SHIT 10 then I would agree with you:D.

Dont get offended now as I am just giving you a hard time.

Alright i have to ask this...why in the phuck are you building an fe when you can throw in a junk yard 460 and make 100hp more for practically not much more than an intake, cam headers, carb, and maybe some head work and pistons...all this same stuff thrown onto an old 390 wont get you even CLOSE to the big block ford..thats right THE big block ford :icon_hornsup:....fe is just an fe in my mind...

i could see the cool factor but come on? 460 and be done....you will run circles around most vettes and camaros if you want with a 500 horse 460. which is dirt cheap to build

To me, the 460 has always been a truck engine. Not a racing engine. Oh yeah, you can build them up and all, and that's great. I just can't get excited about a 460.

There is a reason the 428 peaks my interest the most. When you say 428, most anybody who even knows what the hell it is, knows it's more of a rare engine. There's no messing around with a 428. And besides, it seems nobody has done one before. Same goes for a 390.

I'm still sticking with the 390 or 428...

Never had experience with the 390 myself, but i've known two guys that had 390s and both had rod bearing issues. I think the oil system needs careful attention if you plan on going far or fast...

:buttkick: Because by the time you've done all that to a junkyard 460, then it's really not a junkyard 460 anymore, is it ? :icon_rofl::icon_rofl:
