Never seen any posts on it. Have you used the search feature?

If you're contemplating it, do your homework. Compare the 360's block dimensions with those of a 5.0L. What is the availability of parts?
If you choose a road less traveled, you'll probably be telling us about the potholes, because most of us certainly don't know where they are.

there similar in size to the 350 chevy. width wise. length im not sure. it probably wouldnt be any worse than a 351 swap. i think its doable.

please post lots of pics along the way. i always liked those engines. great power. and run forever. and arent retardedly heavy.

I put a 360 in my 83 CJ-7 and have installed a few sbc. The block from the amc is longer then the chevy if memory serves. Side to side i think is almost the same. AMC's are known for oiling issues. Do you homework.

the only oil issue the amc has is the external oil pump. its not an issue, but there not known for high oil pressure.

expect about 15-20 lbs at an idle when hot. but that is about the same as a small block chevy.

when you replace the external pump with a new unit. the spring inside is stiffer and will give you more oil pressure.

i just sold an 86 jeep grand wagoneer with a rebuilt 360 mopar in it and it had 60 lbs of oil cold, and 20 when hot. its normal.

i say do it. its def. different, and will be a nice street truck when done.

A 360 mopar is not the same engine as a 360 AMC. They do make a high flow oil pump for the AMC which I put on my jeep engine. Mine runs great. Just wanted to bring it to his attention.

im taking the old 2.3 out of the truck this weekend
and i have very easy access to just about every part ill need
but the truck was wrecked last summer and im doing some body work to it
and it needs a whole new front panel where the radiator is connected
and what kind of rear end should i use
i can easily get a dana 44 but im thinking maybe a dana 60

any additional advice is welcome to!

err. that types bad on my part. I meant Amc not mopar. I had an amc 360 in my jeep.

yeah I'm agreeing with u on the oil pressure though

alright well i am gonna finish taking the motor out today
and i found out that when i wrecked it a while back the motor mounts broke completely off the frame... pretty funny.
i will also be putting in a 3 speed trans
and not really sure on what kinda rear end
lets hear some input
so ill try and get some pics up this afternoon

i would do the 360, a th400 trans, or the 727 torque flight but that trans is wider than the 400, but it is a good trans.
and i would swap a ranger or explorer 8.8 axle into it. the ranger will be a direct swap, the explorer will need new spring perches and shock mounts welded on.

all in all, if the motor does fit. this will be one hell of a truck.

didnt get the motor taken out yesterday so im gonna try and finish it today
and will a 8.8 hold up to the 360 or should i go bigger just to be safe
im planning on putting on a 6 inch lift with it to but that will be later on in the build
and right now i can choose between a automatic or a 3 speed trans
im probaly gonna go with the 3speed because im so used to driving a stick and i like them more
so hope fully motor and trans will be out today
and maybe pics tomorrow

8.8 will hold fine. theyve got the stonger axles than the 7.5. but if you could get ahold of a ford 9'' then that would be the way to go.

and 3-speed all the way baby.
