is this a bad idea? I have a chance to get a set of 35x12.50 BFG MT's for $700, I have stock aluminum 15x7 wheels, would finding a set of 15x8's be a huge difference? I kinda like the look of the wheels I have, and finding wheels is harder than I thought...

you can run them a bunch of people do just have to run a little less air pressure so they wear correctly

You can but I wouldn't. Rule of thumb is 4" difference max.

New 15x10 steelies run about $60 ea brand new. 15x8's are about $45 ea brand new.

You'll be fine for a bit. It will accelerate the wear on the center of the tire tread.

I would be looking for some 15x8's with 3.75" backspacing tho.

A 7" wheel isn't exactly ideal for a 12.5" tire. I agree that the minimum should be 8", with a backspacing that will push them to the outsides a bit more.

im running a 12.50" on a 7" wide rim and have done so for years without any problems im running 30psi in all 4 and they wear beautifully just make sure to rotate every 3000 miles or so and you will be fine

I've been running 33x12.5's on stock 15x7's for a while now. Works like a champ, but yes air 'em down a little to get better wear. PLUS, I've run them snow wheeling with like 2 psi, and haven't blown a bead even. Awesome.

Well there is a difference in sidewall height too between 33x12.50's and 35x12.50's with a 35 you have more side wall that can fit on a narrower rim, so with a 33 and an 8 in rim you can run a 35 on a 7 in rim just fine i would think.

you need a min a 15x8 i work in a tire shop

I know some shops won't mount up a tire that isn't on the reccommended rim width. I think that's what he's getting at.

Some shops won't mount up tires over 8 years old either. So that means no BFG Radial Mud Terrains.

you can run 12.5's on a 7" rim. ive done it before and hod no problem other than some slight rubbing at full turn. 11.5's however didnt produce the same rub. I currently run 35 12.5 on the front and 35 14.5 on the rear and have no trouble with the front. however the rear do buldge some and i had to make 1.5" spacers to get the rear off my leafs
