35's gear size? Gas Mileage

Hmmm.... Guess I forgot to put in my sig here that I have 5.13 gears on mine (wouldn't want anything less).

Highway MPG usually hovers around 22 (although on rare occasion has been as high as 24).
In-town driving I'm guessing is around 18, although I haven't done enough in-town to really gauge it for sure.

This with the 2.9L engine and FM146 trans (who's overdrive gear is slightly less than that of the M5OD, too).

is this mileage after you ajusted for the differance in miles you truck with bigger tires?

What is a stock 95 rangers rear axle? I think its a 7.5 right? If so they dont make a 5.13 for the 7.5

yes im also wondering that aswell, if u can get as high as 24 w/ 35's and 5.13's then my buddy should definatly be getting better then 17mpg w/ 30's and 3.73's

Speedo is corrected, yes (well, about 2 MPH fast at 65 still, biggest gear available)

The couple times I broke 24 MPG could very well be due to tailwinds, once was on the I-10 going east out here in San Bernardino Co. Ca. It consistently blows enough there that they got a huge windmill farm out there.

But I also tend to drive a bit on the slow side while cruising (55-60 MPH). I know that much faster than this, the MPG tanks out big-time (probably less than 19 if I keep a sustained 75 MPH).

There are 7.5" 5.13s available, but I would still swap to the 8.8 for the bigger pinion gear at that ratio. The 8.8 from a 4.0L Ranger is a straight bolt-in swap.

edit:
with 30s, 4.10s might bring some improvement, although MPG seems to be a mysteriously variable thing on 2.9s. Why this is I don't know, but it seems I was lucky to get one of the better ones (it did about 26 MPG when I had the dinky P205 donuts and 3.73 gears)

weve been jokin about tossing in the 7.5 w/ 4.56's to see what happens, considering it cant hurt anything anyways lol

Ok so what would you guess one could get with 5.13 and 35's at 75? And what would be the mileage and power difference if i went with a higher 4.something then the 5.13?

15 mpg tops. I have a 4X4 Ranger 3.0 with 33's and 4:88 gears, i get 16 mpg at 60-65 mph and I feel lucky.
