i have a 94 ranger with the 4.0 manual trans 4x4, lifted 2in body. i found a really good deal on a 351 and i know the swap is possible but just wondering if its worth it and besides the motor mounts what are the other big mods. to make for it.

u will need to box the frame or else it will get twisted up if u are heavy on the skinny petal, u will alse need headers and a mini starter if i am correct but don't quote me.

not any different than a 302 swap really, The exhaust is a little more of a challenge but use the search you will find what you are looking for. In a nutshell plan aside from engine plan to swap the rad, trans, t-case and driveshafts. The 8.8 rear and D 35 front may hold for awhile depending on how you beat it. If they break go bigger.

Kinda depends on the 351, some stock 302's make more power than some stock 351W's.

Yeah, I wouldnt be worried about a stock 351W twisting a Ranger frame.

I'm lucky to remember yesterday let alone what I said to someone online nearly a year ago. If I can happen to recall it wasn't a stock engine, after 450hp and actually using the truck you need to do something with the frame. If you want to second guess it, I'll glady give you my address and you can see first hand what happens to them. If you have a smog era 351 you'll make little more power than the V6 it's replacing. A stock engine no worries.

As far as changing axles a your particular truck i wouldn't worry yet. The 8.8 in the back is pretty decent, fullsize 1/2 axles aren't that much stronger til you get into the newer rear axles like the 9.75 in the F-150. Unless you are looking to go 1 tons then go for it.
