351w stroker or 460 stroker?

Since your gonna drag it, there's no replacement for displacement. Stroked 460 and stroke it to 557, or better yet, get Ford's biggest motor, the 600ci and run with that...

drag truck is quite generic. what do you want the truck to run? 12s? 10s? 9s? what your plan?

Is 557 to much for a stock block? And is there a certain year i should look for.
Im guessing with a built 460 and the right trans and gear ang suspension setup i could do id sixes to high 5s at my local 1/8th mile track. Does that sound right? And i did some looking and found that theres a 460 based block thats all aluminum with i think a 12 or so inch deck height and with a six inc stroke crank and nearly 5 or so bore you get 806 cu.in. A complete motor ready to run is nearly 40 grand. Then maybe 10-15 in a transmission to put behind it. Thats just a dream though

Street legal drag truck or not? For a pure drag truck you need to look in the rules or class you want to run and build something to conform in those limits. A street strip truck it's all what you want really. Reguardless of what you build you need to make it hook up. Big blocks are nice but heavy. That's the exact reason I kept my small block. Turbos work wonders. No matter what you do, from my experience a stock Ranger frame doesn't do all that well after 500hp.

I'm partial to the big block. I had a stock 429 I transplanted into a 68 Torino when I was younger and was doing mid 13's @ 105mph. Total cost at that time was ~ $300.00 but that was 30 years ago.

I am planning to build a 2x3 tube frame an set the body on it, and do a mustang II front suspension and then four link or ladder bars in the rear. Im still designing it. I have three motors i can choose from to build. A 302 bored .040 over with stock stroke, a stock 351, or a 460.
