Will a 302 dual sump oil pan fit a 351w and can i use the 302 oil pickup? Exactly how much wider is a 351 than a 302. Can i make some spacers to go between the intake and heads so i can use one of my 302 intakes?

No the pans will not interchange. The 351 is about 1 1/2" wider. I would just get a 351 intake because it would be a lot less hassle.

the single vs. dual plane question is better answered based on cam profile. if you put a dual plane on an engine that has a long duration and an LSA better suited for higher RPM (usually a fair amount of overlap) you are wasting both the cam's and the manifold's potential

just like if you put a single plane manifold on an engine that has a cam with shorter duration, and an LSA better suited for low-mid (usually less overlap) would be an equal waste

FYI - the main bearings on a 351 are larger, so the two dimples for the rear and front seals would be too small.

The V8 write up used to mention a 351W police interceptor oil pan was the 351W equivalent of the dual sump fox body oil pan. It still might. There is probably a swap pan available for foxbodys too that would work.

years ago I had a friend take a 351 oil pan, bolt it to the engine (to keep its shape), cut the bottom off, and weld the bottom portion of a 302 dual sump oil pan to it. but he was sticking it into a 1965 fairlane wagon that had a 289.

he was what you could call an "appalaichan-american"

I was thinking of doin that but not weld a 302 bottom half to it but fab it all kinda like this

but if i do this could i modify the pick up to work or just leave it alone.
Also should i invest in a performance oil pump and an electric water pump and a electric or mechanical fuel pump to feed a 600 or 650 cfm holley. And if you guys have any suggestions for motor upgrades it would be greatly appretiated. Its a stock motor now i plan on putting a four barrel intake on it. How do i decide on a cam profile i need for what intake and vise versa. How much lift is to much before piston to valve issues arise? When i upgrade the cam i will do lifters pushrods valves and springs and a slight P&P with custom fender well headers. Anything else you guys would do or not do.
