351w lifter noise?

i have a 351w in my ranger with a bad lifter ticking sound. the motor was bought as a fresh short block,assembled and installed.first crank it ticked,bad.
took it apart,checked rechecked,valve lash is good,push rods clear,lifters pumping,rockers rocking,getting oil to top.finaly had enough and pulled motor,installed rv cam,new lifters,pushrods,rockers,crank,bearings,rings,the works. fired it up......same dang noise! im out of ideas, can anyone shed some light here?

Are u sure its coming from top an have u checked ur heads maybe the springs, retainer

Back in the 70's my brother had a 289 that we chased the tick for a long time.

Turned out to be a worn rocker.

If I remeber corretly it has something to do with oil feed passages in the block that run thru the cam bearings to feed the lifters, It will come to me what the fix is cause it has been a while I think it was to do with bearings in wrong or wrong bearings

I thought the same thing,so I had my engine built the second time by the guys that built the snap on dragster. I was there the entire time and everything was double checked. But upon first fire up,the same noise was there. Maybe I need a high volume oil pump.but I hate to pull a 351 from a tight squeeze like that on just a hunch

Shoulda just used a 302 like the rest of the world but here I go tryin to be different:banghead:
