I picked up an 88 f-250 with the 351 5spd trans, not sure what t-case is yet. Have to get under it to I.D. it. I also got some dana 60s off craigslist im putting under my ranger, im running these axles full width attatched to 38 inch meats with leafs in the rear and a 3 link in the front.. I know i have to change the d-shaft length, but i have no idea yet. I heard 351s have cooling issues when put into RBVs. Is there any truth to that? If anyone is planning a swap like this in about 5-6 months I'm doing mine then and I will be submitting tons of pictures and noting things that i do and any snags i run into. Since I've been away from my truck since September i have been doing as much research as i can and planning things, but is there anyone that can put in their .02 or some other things i may not know???

what kind of tranny are you using?im thinkin about doin the same with my 88

I got the f-250 when i was in iraq, now that im on midtour leave, i can crawl under and check things out. All i know is that its a 5 spd.

It looks like that we have the almost exact same truck, can u post a pic of it on here? I love to see other peoples rangers.

i would post a pic, but its kind of burried under some boxes in the garage. shes all stock now, but as soon as i can get a job im gunna start workin on her

The only 5sp FACTORY installed behind the 5.8 is the "wide ratio"
ZF-built M5HD trans.

It is easily identified from underneath by the small rectangular
PTO mounting ports (on on each side of the trans)

And from the top by the shift lever that mounts to the stub lever with two bolts
