347 Stroker Trans

alright so im building a 347 stroker for my 89 ranger 2wd ext cab, and im shooting for 450hp. but i cant decide on the tranny.

tci built c4 or junkyard (ill rebuild it) c6?

it will be motatin a 31 spline 8.8 with a lock right locker and 4.56 or 4.88 gears spinning 32" swampers.

oh and the motors getting a disgusting cam (ford racing x303 or equiv) so im probably looking at a converter stall speed of around 2200rpm or higher...

your best bet is a c4 they are smaller then the c6. and can take the 450 hp that u want to run, plus there is less power loss through the drive train. and as for the x cam i ran the same one in a mustang that me and my dad had built and it woke the motor up. but if u are runnin a auto trans u are going to want at lease 2200 stall. good luck and look forward to pics

Xcam = 3000-3500 stall...which is probably too much for the truck.
