Hey guys i have been debating for a super long time on what to get. Im going to be using 15x8 inch rim. I have a 1998 ford ranger xlt 4x4. Im putting in torsion keys and a 3 inch body lift. I know they will both fit becuase someone i know has 12.50s on his ranger. Can i get some opinions on what i should buy. Im getting 33 BFG km2 MT. 12.50 or 10.50? THe reason i ask becuase i dont want the 10.50 to be like pizza cutters and look shitty. Some opinions please. Pics would be cool if you have any

I say 1250. It will look better and give you more grip area. The 1050 will look kinda goofy as you mentioned.

Ya it will give me more grip. The truck is a 3.0 L and kinda a slug already. Hope 12.50s dont make it way to bad lol

This is true. If you are gunna putting on tires this big, you will want to regear. You could probably deal with it for a while, but you'll want to regear. 4.56 or 4.88 is your best bet.

Personally, I like skinnier tires, I'm getting 255/85's (roughly a 33x10) for my truck, it gives you the best off road clearance with the least amount of rub issues and fuel mileage issues...

I say go with the 12.50's. 10.50's are a little skinny for my taste. A friend has a set of 33x10.50's on his 4Runner and it looks a little goofy.

With the body lift 12.50's will fit, I'd go with them.

I had 10.50s on 15x8's and they don't look that skinny on rangers because the cab isn't that wide. The wider tire you get the more surface area that's on the road, so while good for mud and off-road, it's going to significantly change your mpg's on the road. You'll have more than enough clearance for either though.

I would take into consideration the possibility that the 12.5s would be a red flag for law enforcement if you live in a state that has inspections or is generally tough on vehicles. Here in Ohio you can drive a pickup truck with 3 wheels, 4 strippers working a pole in the bed, and a keg tap attached to the steering wheel without even drawing much attention from law enforcement. Other states do not allow the tires to protrude beyond the fenders. I personally prefer 12.5s on a 8 inch rim because its so much harder to fill the tire beads up with rocks, sand, sticks etc.

not sure where you are, but here in northern Minnesota, i run skinny tires because most of the trails go through dense woods. not always enough space between the trees for the really wide tires. on the more open and rocky trails, it lets me pick my drive line rather than being forced to try to muscle the big tires over obstacles. less damage potential that way. as this is my dd and for trails as well as driving it to and from the wheeling areas, i am probably more protective of it. mine is no trailer queen and certainly no mall crawler, but it gets me anywhere i want to go. just my $.02 :icon_thumby:

youd have better traction with a wider tire; more contact patch

hey bad bronc, those 33 10.50s on an 8 inch rim look pretty good on your truck. 33.12.50's on a 15x10 might stick out quite a bit
