I have a 2000 Ext-cab 4x4 Ranger and I want to install a body lift on it. I called our local off-road shop this morning and asked about a 3in and having it installed. The guy told me about $670 for parts and labor. I then asked him about running some 33's on the truck ,and he said that there would be more cutting required to fit that size of a tire under my ranger. Is this true? From what I have read on this site, 33's should fit fine. Am I just missing something here?

I think that guy doesn't know his stuff. 33's should fit fine with a BL. I saw someone fit 35s without a lift.

if you have any mechanical apptitude at all....you should be able to install the body lift in your driveway....no need to pay a shop...

if you crank your Torsion bars and with the 3" BL you will clear 33's easily....no trimming needed...

if you look in the Tech Library you will find alot of useful info on both :icon_thumby:

Thanks, A friend of mine said that I could use his lift anytime I needed it. So I was thinking that might help me out alot.

Hell, some people have fit 33x10.50's stock height. You can fit 33x12.50's comfortably with a BL.

plus do you really wanna double the price of a BL just for someone installing it......... and cranking t-bars is easy too.... just not too far

That would depend on the rust. Some things are just worth paying someone else to do.

I'm running 33x12.5 BFG TA's with a 3" body lift. Click my build thread link in my sig if you want to see the progress.

here is my old 99 with a crank and 33x12.50's on 15x8's

dang dude. I just did the BL... And I considered just letting a mechanic do it..but its really time consuming and he would just run you on the bill...... It takes time but it really is easy. This was my first time doing a BL and the hardest part is turning bolts... its actually kinda fun... you spend a few minutes preping ( extension brackets) the rest is just installing the 3" blocks with new bolts. only few tools and jack needed, just get a buddy and a pipe to slide over the rachet to turn the big bolts easier. No Lift needed, its a driveway job.. And yes 33's have fit under only a T-bar crank before.. and 3" BL is for comfort and better body/tire ratio look.
Once you install your first block, you'll relaize 'thats it?' just takes some time on your first time.
