Does yours look like this one?

If so no, you don't. If it doesn't then yes you will. For a foxbody Mustang.

What kind of motor mounts should I use? I have been looking at a lot and it is not time to start pulling the trigger and bidding stuff.

I used the fox covert/SN-95 mounts. If I had it to do over again I would use the V6 mounts with plates. Mine keeps settling down in the notch I cut into the engine crossmember and messing up the exhaust. I think I got it fixed finally after resituating the engine twice. It sits low as it is too, just not happy with how they fit.

I might swap back to them someday anyway.

Use your stock mounts and make a set of brackets to bolt up to them, that way you can adjust them as much as you need to during the swap and you are not stuck in one spot with premaid mounts

Do these headers fit inside the engine bay? or would i have to go to the shorty versions?

And what material should i use to make those brackets?

Plywood.....jk, after looking at my mounts, 1/4 -3/8 Inch steel plate should be enough to make those mounts. My next swap will be done with these fabbed plates instead of the kit variation for sure.

They do on a 2wd. They will require work with a 164t bellhousing, you can see the 164t engine plate is bent where the starter goes for it test fit.

So I am going to keep my truck 4wd and I am covering to a5 speed from an automatic. Will that change the headers I can use?

I would just go with shorties for a 4x4.

If you look through the pics in the header sticky in this forum you will note the driver side tri-y will run in the same place as your front driveshaft.

I used 88400 Hedman's, there are pics of mine in that thread too.

with the motor mount plates, is the height supposed to be adjusted with a bushing?

What are good 4.10 axels to swap in?

Can be, or washers.

D35 in the front and explorer 8.8 in the rear. Factory 4.10's might require some searching though, Ford was stingy with those back then.

So I bought a new truck, it is a 88 ranger xlt with a five speed and the 2.9l engine. The plan is to swap everything out of my current truck(CB, radio, sub, tire, etc.). The only thing wrong with the new truck is the cab filled with smoke, so they dropped it off at the junk yard. I do not know what kind of smoke it was our what really happened but I guess I will find out when I drive it
