We will probably be tearing the Bronco down soon and I was wondering if it was a good idea to take out my 3.0 and put in the Bronco's 302

Obviously I would only do the switch it I fixed up the engine and had some helpers!

Yay or nay?

V8 Mazda B3000, it would be For The Epic Win :icon_thumby:

Power hungry? Haha.

Are you ready for the reduced gas mileage in the Mazda with a 5.0 instead of the 3.0 in it?

--Edit--

Oh yea, and you should find a 5 symbol to match the B3000 and switch it with the 3. :icon_thumby:

Ha, if I do the converstion I would do that... just Mazda B5000

The MPG would probably be better because it would take A LOT less power to move the truck.

Hmm.. you do have a point.. but I dunno.
You should check with other people who have swapped 5.0's in. I've always wanted to do it, but I lack the skills.. and a truck with a tranny that could handle it.

Oh yea, and that's something you have to watch for too. A lot of the tranny's in 3.0's can barely handle the V6, you might have to swap that too.

Do you have the A4OD in your truck or is it different for newer Mazda's?

if your gettin 16 mpg hiway right now a 302 wont do better there. that turd in the bronco wont anyway. but if its tight and runiing good it will be worth the effort.

but a 5.3 gm would definatly get better mpg then the 302 and have way more power..

you have to swap it all anyway...may as well get a killer tranny engine combo.

I don't get 16 anymore, for some reason it dropped into single digits and my tranns is about to die on me. Jerks into 2nd and 3rd and wouldn't go into neutral yesterday.

Something is seriously wrong if your in single digits for mileage. I think it would be awesome to have the 302 in that truck, It looks great and i admire it and what you have done with it. A V8 would definitely top it off. But be sure to consider everything it will take. Down time, parts, labor, unforeseen challenges. It will take a lot but if you can afford it in all those ways it would probably be worth it. And i agree with bobby that turd probably wont get better then what you were normally getting.

Do it. You will have to swap in a V8 trans like an AOD or a C4/C6. Start collecting your swap parts and get it done!

if you get the bronco leave the bronco as stock as possible since they are great ridin as is and just drive it, and get a seperate powertrain for the ranger.

I'd do it once your 3.0 is on it's last leg. Not worth it if she's still running good.

You should definitely do it. Im actually getting ready to do the same thing. Im working on the rebuild of an 87 302 and dropping it in a 2300. If you get it... id say do it

Fawk it. Drop in a 1930's Lincoln 448 and make it a Mazda B7300

Not really. They have like.. 140ish horse power I hear.
But man would people be shocked when you tell them you have a V12 haha.

Ya I would definetely do it. I'm in the process of putting a 347 in my 98 B2500.

That B5000 is a good idea lol. I'm gonna get a custom badge in the same lettering to say B5.0 haha
