302 exhaust size

coming towards the end of my explorer 302 swap and wanted to see what you guys think about exhaust size. ill be running torque monsters down into an o/r x pipe with no cats, to two super 40 flowmasters dumped in front of the axle. should i be using 2.25 in pipe or 2.5 in. ill be in the 250 hp/310 torque range

2.25" is my vote.

Mine is a mix of 2" for clearance (not my choice but what do you say after the shop does it? ) and 2.25" out the back.

3 in single into a dynomax welded.

My suggestion for easiest exhaust is a 2 1/2 single. That size was used on the first V8 Fox Mustangs and worked pretty well.

The size doesn't really matter ubless you have an all out performance motor and only then the difference is negledgeable on a street motor. Adding forced induction is a different matter.

If noise doesn't bother you go the same size inlet and outlet. I'd recommend going down in size for a truck you intend to drive a lot. That will keep the sound in check a bit more.

Don't forget to include a 'H' pipe in your plans as the SBF gains some torque there.

I'm runnin Tri Ys into 3 " and 2.5" Flowmaster 40's mounted where the spare would be.
