has anyone else had the exhaust on the drivers side be an issue for clearance with the front drive shaft? I brought it to the exhasut shop to fix it twice now and my front driveshaft keeps destroying the crossover pipe just from street driving.

Keep in mind that theres a solid axle under the truck, I guess that might complicate things. The only thing i can think of to deal with this is to split the 2.25 pipe into 2 smaller pipes run them side by side up and over the transmission then back into a 2.25 pipe into the cat. I will post pix when I go out today.

Other option is more lift, but then that complicates things for the steering. I've already got plenty of lift, I dont really want more.

Anyone have thoughts on what I can do here?

p.s. I am using advance adapter short headers with 2 bolt flanges welded on.

This is after the exhaust shop "repaired" it. they didn't do anything but put in a new piece of pipe and charge me $65 to do it. It didn't change anything. It had hit the new pipe just from driving down the road from their shop to ours. I need to find a way to route it that wont smash my front driveshaft.

Any reputable exhaust shop should see that coming and wouldnt charge you to fix there mistake, a good exhaust shop runs pipe that does not interfere with other opperations of the vehicle.

What kind of clearance do you have between that and your oil pan? They should be able to bend it to "hug" the oil pan and run it down the space between the oil pan and bellhousing.

Would also consider covering up that torque converter as well.

Thats what i suggested to them, the only other idea i had was to somehow go over the transmission. Possibly by spliting it into 2 smaller pipes and back into one pipe so its flatter and more do-able. I need to get the truck back off my dad and bring it in to them and leave it untill they can do it properly.

Im basically looking for more ideas or thoughts on the subject. Thank you for your input!

UPDATE:

Took it back, they "dont have equpiement" to get the pipe to fit between the oil pan and belhousing. They cant split it into 2 1.25" pipes run them between and back into one. I dont know why, but they cant do that unfotunately. but they did splice in a 2.25" pipe instead of the 2.5" and tuck it as much as they could. I'm content with that.

Now im going to change the pinion angle a little and get my bump stops setup. After that i should be good to go.

i know its alittle late but why ot just go back then cross behind the t case or in front of the t case

theres a driveshaft in the way mostly. along with shifter linkages, cables, fuel lines, and brake lines. I thought about it long and hard. Only 2 options, cross between the pan and bellhousing, or go over the trans and back over to the cat and that one is even more complicated then running it down the side trying to occupy the same space as the driveshaft.

I've got the same problem as you.

I put in the Duff full length headers that are supposed to work, but it runs right into the U joint on my front drive shaft. For now, I have taken the shaft out, and I am running in two wheel drive so that I don't tear it up.

I'm not sure if my motor mounts are different, or if it has something to do with the body lift, but Duff can't really tell me anything.

This is really frustrating, because the only solution that I can think of is to lift the truck at least 4". I'd like to do that eventually, but I hate not having four wheel drive until I get the money for the lift.
