This is within a 5 year plan of mine once the truck gets paid off completely. I am wanting to drop a 302/5.0L from a 97-01 Explorer into my 03 Ranger 4x4. Will it mount up with my 5spd Auto tranny? Will that be sufficient to handle the power. Also i have the 8.8 LS rear end (not Torsen im assuming). I only have the FX4 not Lvl 2. would my transmission and rear end be sufficient to handle the torque? If not are there any 5 spd trannys that would work? I would rather not put in a 4spd, but u do what you gotta do:icon_welder: Thanks for the info.

The easiest/cheapest swap by far in your case is to use the complete 2001Explorer drive train. Your existing rear end is fine.
