itll go in even easier since im rebuilding the radiator core support since it rusted through. if this does work, im gonna have to read up on stupid wiring... ugh...

Hmmmm... I do not like doing paypal trans actions over 2k dollars... Ugh the trust involved... The next pay check to a gun and a plane ticket... What to do.

In the link, guy has only 8-9 posts total... that is why im not really trusting this. and hes willing to lose out on 1k off what he paid to rebuild it and throw in high pressure holley fuel pump. ive never bought from people on forums, only heard of the horror stories and i do not want to be involved in one.

I hope it works out for you. Have you calculated what the shipping is gonna cost?
You might find one closer that will be roughly the same price by the time you add the shipping.

Wondering what you are after in your engine swap, DD, Race Truck ?
Not knowing how much you are paying for the Cali setup and what you are going to do with the finished product… think hard on buying used auto parts from someone 3000 miles away. He has already mentioned the problems with some of the parts, for me it is a no brainer, NO ! Unless the parts are hard to find or very few exist.
If something goes wrong and the original seller is willing to take stuff back the cost for shipping will limit every move.

There are a lot of Explorers in the JY, the same year as yours and some newer and older; a lot with V-8s and all of the stuff needed to adapt a V-8 to your truck.

IMHO… find a JY that is buyer friendly and talk to them about buying what you need.
Take everything you can think of that will help with the swap, engine, harnesses, sensors, motor mounts, exhaust manifolds, everything.

Here’s one, tell them Sandy from the Ranger Site sent you !

RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't walk away from this....................RUN !!!!!!!!!! If you can find out exactly where this guy is in So. Cal, you might be able to get my son to go check it out for you. He's stationed at Pendleton on the north end of the base.

I picked up my complete 302 (rebuilt) from a local swap meet for $1000 and got to see and hear it run. I then picked up a TCI tranny for $800, throw in another $200 for a converter and for a total of $2000 I got and complete motor and tranny ready to go that got to hear run. Take your time and look around you should be able to find something local that you will be happy with and then if there are any problems you're right there close...

[hijack] What air cleaner is that? Where'd you buy it? How much $$$? [/hijack]

.

ok thank you all for the tips. my main concern was getting screwed... even if the guy is legit its still a hit or miss on quality. the only good thing that sounded good was that it has all stuff to go right on a ranger minus wiring harness. he said he also had an efi conversion kit to go with it... ill come up with an excuse cause i hate getting peoples hopes up. ill let him part it out to people on the site...

Just tell him that with the price of gas, driving out there to check it out really isn't an option for you. That's one hell of a long round trip just to check out a 302. :badidea:

If you just want a 302 and c4, look around for 80's and up foxbody mustangs. They are pretty cheap and you can get a complete running car for under 3 grand. pull motor and trans and part the reas of the mustang out to get some money back. Or if you just want a good place to deal on. go to corral.net. I've never had any problems of not getting what I paid for. good luck

im actually gonna just look for a expo and keep 4wd. i was thinking the other route cause its cheaper for a 2wd LT kit, but, i need my 4wd and money can be saved i just need a bit longer.
